As part of our partnership with Phocuswright, the leading authority on travel research, over the next few weeks we’ll be introducing you to some of the interesting findings and topics relating to the travel market that they’ve conducted extensive research into. Today we’re highlighting just how diverse and evolutionary the hotel market currently is, and should this be a pressing topic for your business, we encourage you to read on for more about the research Phocuswright has done, and to join us at Phocuswright Europe where this will be one of many issues discussed at length.
The European online hotel distribution landscape is driven by the fragmented nature of the market; roughly two thirds of the European room supply consists of independent properties – and independents account for more than half of all gross bookings.
As a result, online travel agencies, which specialize in aggregating content from disparate sources, capture twice as many bookings as online direct channels. Hotels throughout Europe are using a combination of methods to encourage direct bookings and establish deeper relationships with their customers. How can hotels strike the right balance?
Hear from visionaries on both sides of the fence at Phocuswright Europe, 16-18 May 2017 in Amsterdam, during our Executive Roundtable: The Hotel Distribution Debate.
