The #LoveCapeTown iambassador blog trip and social media campaign in 2012 was billed as “the most successful social media campaign to date” by Cape Town Tourism. During the course of one week, four international travel bloggers visited Cape Town to uncover the city’s secrets. By crowd-sourcing tips from Capetonians via social media, the bloggers unearthed a wealth of amazing tips and ideas. The resulting social media campaign reached 1.4 million people around the world and the #LoveCapeTown hashtag is still being used till this day by both locals and visitors alike! In addition, the campaign contributed to Cape Town Tourism winning the Travel + Leisure SMITTY Awards (Social Media in Travel + Tourism Awards) in the category Best Overall Use of Social Media, CVB, Global.
#LoveCapeTown Part II
As a consequence of the success of #LoveCapeTown, Cape Town Tourism approached iambassador to help organise a second edition in 2013. This time around, a more in-depth approach has been chosen. Three bloggers from the USA, UK and Brazil will visit the city, starting 18th September 2013 till 7th October 2013. Each blogger will have the opportunity to explore the city, focusing on three themes: luxury travel/lifestyle, food/wines and design (Cape Town is the World Design Capital in 2014). The bloggers will share their experiences in real-time via their social media channels. Follow the bloggers via the hashtag #LoveCapeTown as they discover the Mother City!
The three bloggers are:
- Abigail King of Inside the Travel Lab
- Carol Moré of Follow the Colours
- Rachelle Lucas of The Travel Bite
iambassador is proud to be a partner of Cape Town Tourism once again. This campaign will be tracked by BrandsEye.
